Pednekar won the Best Biographical\/Historical Reconstruction\/Compilation Film Award for their documentary film \u2018Aanakhi Ek Mohenjo Daro\u2019 (2022) at the recent 70th National Film Awards.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>~ Directed by renowned Goan filmmaker Ashok Rane, the film documents the rise and fall of the Girangaon mill workers civilisation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Goa Khabar: In a significant win for Goa\u2019s growing film industry, producers Gayatri and Rajesh R. Pednekar\u2019s documentary film \u2018Aanakhi Ek Mohenjo Daro\u2019 (Yet Another Mohenjo Daro) bagged the Best Biographical\/Historical Reconstruction\/Compilation Film award at the recent 70th National Film Awards.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Directed by eminent Goan filmmaker Ashok Rane and produced by the Pednekars\u2019 Goa-based production house \u2018de Goan Studio\u2019, the documentary, which explores historical themes, was honoured with the prestigious Rajat Kamal (silver lotus) Award in the non-feature film category on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are incredibly honoured to win our third National Award, and we couldn\u2019t be more proud to have achieved it for this film. \u2018Aanakhi Ek Mohenjo Daro\u2019 documents the rise and fall of glorious Girangaon (village of mills) &#8211; a civilization of around 130 textile mills that flourished in the Lalbag-Parel area in Mumbai at the turn of the 20th century, and enriched the city with their cultural, social and political identity,\u201d said Rajesh R. Pednekar.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Aanakhi Ek Mohenjo Daro\u2019 (2022) documents the contribution of the mill workers of Girangaon to the social and cultural fabric of the city of Mumbai. The mill workers hailed from various parts of India and different walks of life, displayed a sense of community that is a reflection of the real India. Unfortunately, this civilization rapidly declined post the Great Bombay Textile Strike of 1982, which witnessed the rise of the bureaucracy.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-95894\" src=\"https:\/\/goakhabar-com.preview.jikut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Ad-nw-263x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"263\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.goakhabar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Ad-nw-263x300.jpg 263w, https:\/\/www.goakhabar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Ad-nw.jpg 510w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 263px) 100vw, 263px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The documentary film also recently bagged the Best Documentary Audience Award at the Indo-German FilmWeek Festival in Berlin.<\/p>\n<p>Under the banner of \u2018de Goan Studio\u2019, Gayatri and Rajesh R. Pednekar, the latter who is a multifaceted actor, producer, cricketer and Vaastu specialist, have also produced the National Award-winning films \u2018K Sera Sera &#8211; Ghodpachem Ghoddtelem\u2019 (2016) and \u2018Kaajro\u2019 (2019).<\/p>\n<p>This is also director and film critic Ashok Rane\u2019s fourth National Award.
