{"id":94952,"date":"2024-07-20T12:29:27","date_gmt":"2024-07-20T06:59:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.goakhabar.com\/?p=94952"},"modified":"2024-07-20T12:29:27","modified_gmt":"2024-07-20T06:59:27","slug":"office-of-the-state-commissioner-for-pwds-collaborates-with-museum-of-goa-mog-to-host-art-inc-first-of-its-kind-art-exhibition-to-empower-entrepreneu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.goakhabar.com\/?p=94952","title":{"rendered":"Office of the State Commissioner for PwD\u2019S collaborates\u00a0with Museum of Goa [MOG] to host\u00a0\u2018Art Inc.\u2019, First-of-its-kind Art Exhibition\u00a0to empower\u00a0entrepreneurship of Goan artists with Disabilities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>~ The Art Inc. exhibition for persons with disabilities will be held at the Museum of Goa, Pilerne,\u00a0from July 19 to August 4, 2024.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>~ 45+ leading\u00a0&amp;\u00a0aspiring artists with disabilities have been selected to display and sell their artworks.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>~ The inauguration of the exhibition saw the launch of the\u00a0<\/em>Swabhiman Udyam Goa<em>\u00a0(Self-Reliant Enterprise Goa), the pilot project under\u00a0<\/em>Amcho Posro<em>, which is set to empower persons with disabilities in Goa with micro-entrepreneurship opportunities.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Goa Khabar:The &#8216;Art Inc.&#8217; exhibition, is a collaborative event held at the Museum of Goa [MOG], organized in partnership with the <em>Department of Empowerment for Persons with Disabilities,\u00a0Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Government of Goa, EnAble India and International Purple Fest Goa.<\/em>\u00a0Forty-seven leading and aspiring Goa-based artists with disabilities\u00a0to\u00a0showcase their artwork at \u2018Art Inc.\u2019 exhibition at the Museum of Goa (MOG),\u00a0Pilerne\u00a0curated by Samira Sheth, the exhibition features over 100 artworks by 45+ artists with diverse disabilities,\u00a0to celebrate diversity and inclusion in the art space.\u00a0With this initiative,\u00a0Goa-based artists with disabilities have been given a public platform to showcase their artwork and financially empower themselves through art sales, at the \u2018Art Inc.\u2019 exhibition.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition\u00a0facilitates\u00a0the discovery of artists with disabilities\u00a0and includes\u00a0a series of workshops, interactive sessions\u00a0and artist meetings, which\u00a0will help\u00a0engage with these artists and\u00a0provide\u00a0a better understanding of the local talent pool and their art-based skill sets.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-94934\" src=\"https:\/\/goakhabar-com.preview.jikut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/19.07-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"221\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The inaugural\u00a0was held in the presence of\u00a0Shri Subhash Phal Dessai, Hon&#8217;ble Minister for Social Welfare,\u00a0Shri Guruprasad Pawaskar, State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities,\u00a0Shri Taha Haaziq, Secretary, Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities,\u00a0Subodh Kerkar, Founder and Artist-MOG, Sharada Kerker, Operational Head at MOG, Priti Lobo, EnAble India, Samira Sheth, Curator, Art. Inc. Exhibition and Prakash Kamat, Senior Journalist.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the inaugural\u00a0function,\u00a0<strong>Shri. Subhash Phal Dessai, Hon&#8217;ble Minister\u00a0for\u00a0Social Welfare<\/strong>\u00a0stated that <em>&#8220;We are immensely proud to collaborate with the Museum of Goa to host the &#8216;Art Inc.&#8217; exhibition, a pioneering event that not only showcases the extraordinary talents of Goan artists with disabilities but also provides them with a vital platform for financial empowerment through art sales. This initiative underscores our commitment to fostering an inclusive society where every individual, regardless of ability, can thrive and contribute\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Highlighting\u00a0the initiative,\u00a0<strong>Shri Guruprasad Pawaskar, State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities<\/strong>\u00a0stated that\u00a0\u201d<em>&#8216;Art Inc.&#8217; exhibition is a testament to the incredible creativity and resilience of Goan artists with disabilities. By partnering with the Museum of Goa\u00a0we aim to create a supportive environment where these artists can not only showcase their talent but also achieve financial independence. The launch of Swabhiman Udyam Goa is a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to empower persons with disabilities, providing them with the tools and opportunities to succeed as entrepreneurs. We are excited to see the positive impact this initiative will have on our community.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sharada Kerkar, Operational Head of MOG<\/strong>\u00a0stated that \u201c\u2018<em>Art Inc.\u2019 is a step in the right direction to making the world of art accessible to all, with 10 artworks offering tactile accessibility to visually impaired visitors. The exhibition has also been divided into two sections to cater to the artists\u2019 respective levels of artistry, with one section displaying the works of seven leading artists, and the other for the 40-plus aspiring artists\u201d.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of her association to Art Inc. as a curator,<strong>\u00a0Samira Sheth, Curator of Art Inc.<\/strong> states that\u00a0<em>\u201cArt Inc. is a platform for all art lovers who want to buy meaningful art and art that makes a difference. Each work is soothing, stimulating and tells a story and I urge everyone to come and get inspired.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Excited to be part of such an event,\u00a0leading artist,\u00a0<strong>Frederika Menezes, artist, poet, author\u00a0<\/strong>states that\u00a0\u201c<em>This art exhibition has provided wonderful opportunity for persons with disabilities with to showcase talent that otherwise would go unnoticed.\u00a0To ensure that art is accessible to all, MOG is also making strides in ensuring that\u00a0the museum is physically and digitally accessible, by building ramps, accessible restrooms, tactile guides and braille descriptions for exhibits, and having sign language interpreters in the case of the former.\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0inaugural\u00a0function also witnessed\u00a0the\u00a0launch of <strong>Amcho Posro, an innovative initiative poised to revolutionize micro-entrepreneurship for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) in Goa.<\/strong> This visionary model aims to empower PwDs by providing essential resources, support, and training to establish and grow their businesses. Rooted in inclusion and economic empowerment, Amcho Posro unites a dedicated team of professionals from AnklyticX, Innovent, Marketing on the Menu, O&#8217;Gharant, and Queen Bee to support aspiring PwD entrepreneurs. The stakeholders involved may evolve and change based on sector requirements. Designed as a comprehensive ecosystem, Amcho Posro fosters economic independence for PwDs through entrepreneurship, creating a nurturing environment where PwDs can leverage their unique skills and talents to build sustainable businesses, thereby redefining opportunities and inclusivity for PwDs in Goa.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Through this process, seven leading artists and over 40 aspiring artists were identified, showcasing artworks across various themes, including still-life, portraiture, landscape, architectural, and abstract art.
