{"id":93659,"date":"2024-05-10T11:29:19","date_gmt":"2024-05-10T05:59:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.goakhabar.com\/?p=93659"},"modified":"2024-05-10T11:29:19","modified_gmt":"2024-05-10T05:59:19","slug":"drishti-marines-learn-to-float-programme-commences-for-housing-societies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.goakhabar.com\/?p=93659","title":{"rendered":"Drishti Marine\u2019s \u2018Learn to Float\u2019 programme commences for housing societies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>~ Marine Drishti and Coastal Foundation has expanded its learn to float initiative to housing societies across Goa.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>~ The programme, which is aimed for children, is free of cost.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Goa Khabar:<\/strong> With a steadfast commitment to water safety and determination to prevent incidents of drowning, Drishti Marine, the state-appointed life-saving organisation, has expanded its ongoing free-of-cost \u2018Learn to Float\u2019 programme from school campuses to housing enclaves in the coastal state.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Marine Drishti and Coastal Foundation, a Goa-based non-profit organisation focused on marine and coastal conservation, is conducting this programme along with Drishti Lifesaving and Special Rescue Training Academy (SRTA) as delivery partners.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-93647\" src=\"https:\/\/goakhabar-com.preview.jikut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/10.05-265x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"265\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.goakhabar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/10.05-265x300.jpg 265w, https:\/\/www.goakhabar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/10.05.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 265px) 100vw, 265px\" \/><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Inspired by the success of the \u2018Float to Survive\u2019 campaign in Australia, which demonstrated the effectiveness of teaching basic floating techniques in reducing drowning fatalities, Drishti Marine\u2019s \u2018Learn to Float\u2019 programme aims to equip people, mainly children, with essential floating skills to save themselves in emergencies.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cThe key to drowning prevention lies in education and preparedness,\u201d emphasised Navin Awasthi, CEO, Drishti Marine. \u201cThrough the \u2018Learn to Float\u2019, we empower individuals with the skills they need to respond effectively in water-related emergencies, potentially saving lives. Our goal is to instil a culture of water safety within every household in the state.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">To date, the programme was first facilitated for schoolchildren from The Rosary High School, Cujira, and later extended to housing societies like Chamunda Residency in Caranzalem, North Goa and Gogol Hillside Residency in Margao, South Goa. In Calangute, the local panchayat organised the \u2018Learn to Float\u2019 initiative at Adamo Hotel and invited children from the surrounding locality to participate.
