Goa Khabar:<\/strong> More than 210 entries have been received for participation in the debut edition of the Baale BPS Open 2024, an all-Goa ranking tennis tournament, set to commence on April 27 at the B.P.S Sports Club in Margao.<\/p>\n

The state-level ranking tennis tournament has been supported by Baale Resort Goa,\u00a0Goa State Tennis Association (GSTA) and organised by the prestigious B.P.S Sports Club in Margao \u2013 named after first Goan Governor Bernardo Peres Da Silva.<\/p>\n

According to the organisers, a total of 215 entries have been received for participation, marking the highest turnout ever seen in any Goa state-level tennis tournament. They also revealed that the tournament, for the first time in the state, will feature a boys and girls under-10 category.<\/p>\n

In the tournament\u2019s open category, 12 participants have registered for the under-10 category, including nine boys and three girls. For the under-14 category, 33 participants have registered, with 23 boys and 10 girls signing up for the event. In the under-18 category, there are 22 boys and seven girls who have registered. 17 pairs have registered for the mixed doubles category, while 25 pairs have registered for the men\u2019s doubles event. 14 female tennis players and 49 male tennis players have registered in the ladies and men\u2019s singles\u2019 categories respectively.<\/p>\n

In the veterans\u2019 segment, 15 registrations have been received for the veterans 45+ singles category, while eight pairs have registered for the veteran\u2019s 45+ doubles category. Nine players have signed up for the veterans 55+ singles event and four teams for the veterans 55+ doubles event.<\/p>\n

The introduction of an u-10 category for boys and girls at the Baale BPS open 2024 reflects the interest shown by younger sportspersons towards tennis,\u201d says Deepak Nahak, the Tournament Director.<\/p>\n
