Goa Khabar: In a scathing attack, Congress on Thursday said that while people of the state are suffering due to acute shorting of water, Chief minister Pramod Sawant is busy in election campaign in Karnataka.<\/strong><\/div>\n

GPCC Vice President Sunil Kawthankar addressed a press conference in Congress House and said that the situation will become worse in May, when water level will decrease.<\/div>\n

\u201cLast year people paid two thousand rupees for a water supplied by tankers. This year the rate may increase by more than one thousand. How will the common man afford to purchase water from tankers? Instead of resolving the issue, Pramod Sawant is campaigning in neighbouring state, this is unacceptable,\u201d Kawthankar said.<\/div>\n

\u201cOur taps have already dried. BJP\u2019s \u2018Har Ghar Jal\u2019 has failed because there is no water supply. I think in future people will have to add \u2018water tanker\u2019 purchases in their household financial management,\u201d Kawthankar said, adding only those who \u2018gain\u2019 from BJP are happy and the common man is suffering.<\/div>\n

He said that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has failed to see smooth supply of water, who also holds the PWD portfolio. \u201cSince last ten years they have been promising to provide water round the clock. But it has failed to keep its word, despite having a double engine,\u201d Kawthankar said.<\/div>\n

He said that during the summer season, usage of water increases, but despite knowing this government has failed to tackle the issue. \u201cThis proves that the Chief Minister is not serious. How people can rely on private water tankers, who supply water late,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n
