Drishti Lifesavers are trained to handle emergency situations and this weekend the lifesavers had to put in an extra shift. There were 13 rescues reported across Goa\u2019s coastal belt. In a busy weekend Calangute witnessed two double rescues, one multiple rescues and a single<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-IN\"> rescue\u00a0while\u00a0Baga\u00a0reported\u00a0one\u00a0rescue.\u00a0Arambol,\u00a0Agonda\u00a0and\u00a0Vagator\u00a0each\u00a0reported one water-based rescue\u00a0on the individual beaches.\u00a0The beaches remain restricted to the public for swimming due to the harsh and unpredictable currents\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-IN\">Four\u00a0individuals\u00a0from Karnataka, aged 20 to 25, were caught in a strong current and thrown into the deep by the force of the waves at\u00a0Calangute\u00a0beach. When they heard a commotion on the shore, the lifesavers\u00a0Sajan, Leslie, Sandeep,\u00a0Rohit, and\u00a0Shubam\u00a0were\u00a0quick on their feet to attend to the individuals in danger. The four people were secured using a combination of rescue tubes and surf boards. On two separate occasions, two double rescues were performed on the beaches. On one occasion, two\u00a0individuals\u00a0from Rajasthan, ages 32 and 34, were caught in a strong\u00a0wave, which threw them off balance and swept them into the harsh\u00a0currents. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-IN\">Drishti lifesavers\u00a0Divakar\u00a0and\u00a0Pandurang\u00a0used a rescue tube and a\u00a0jetski\u00a0to secure them. A similar series of events occurred in another area of the beach with two young males from Bangalore, ages 18 and 20.\u00a0The\u00a0same\u00a0five\u00a0lifesavers\u00a0again\u00a0were called\u00a0into action when\u00a0beachgoers reported two\u00a0individuals\u00a0struggling to swim and screaming for help in the water. They were brought back to shore with the help of a rescue tube and\u00a0jetskis, where they were given medical attention.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-IN\">Lifesavers\u00a0Shivraj\u00a0and\u00a0Rohit\u00a0performed a single rescue with a rescue tube at a different location.\u00a0Amongst the multiple rescues performed on the beaches,\u00a0A two-year-old girl was reported missing by her mother, who desperately searched for her\u00a0in\u00a0a crowded beach. After\u00a0the\u00a0frantic mother brought it to the attention of the lifesavers, an announcement was made right away.\u00a0The lifesavers with the help of the jeep helped track the\u00a0girl\u00a0down\u00a0and return\u00a0the child back\u00a0to her mother.\u00a0The\u00a0woman\u00a0thanked the lifesavers profusely for their efforts\u00a0in returning\u00a0her\u00a0child back to her.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-IN\">The shores of\u00a0Baga\u00a0also witnessed\u00a0search\u00a0for\u00a0two\u00a0missing\u00a0children on two separate occasions.\u00a0when a concerned father\u00a0hailing from Rajasthan\u00a0was desperately trying to look for his 6-year-old child\u00a0who left his sights for\u00a0a brief moment\u00a0in\u00a0a\u00a0large crowd of beachgoers. At the assistance of the lifesavers, an announcement was\u00a0made from the jeep. The search concluded 10 minutes later\u00a0after the lifesavers found the boy with description given by the father at\u00a0different\u00a0location all by himself.\u00a0Under similar circumstances, a man from\u00a0Uttarakhand\u00a0was left distraught when he\u00a0couldn\u2019t\u00a0locate\u00a0his\u00a010 year\u00a0old. The lifesavers helped find and return the child back to the father.\u00a0On\u00a0a\u00a0separate occasion\u00a0at\u00a0Baga\u00a0beach, a 35year-old from Karnataka was rescued by the\u00a0safe hands of the lifesavers after he found himself struggling to swim while being pulled into the deep further by the immense tides. The man was seen thrashing his hands\u00a0to\u00a0signal for help. The lifesavers Sanjay,\u00a0Naik, Vishal,\u00a0Manthan\u00a0and Narayan were involved in\u00a0safely bringing the individual back to shore.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-IN\">Agonda,\u00a0Arambol\u00a0and\u00a0Vagator\u00a0had\u00a0witnessed single rescues at each beach.\u00a0At\u00a0Agonda,\u00a0a\u00a0Russian national was rescued with the help of Ashok and\u00a0Kashinath.\u00a0While a 36year old male from Shimla was securely returned back to shore after a brief struggle in the harsh currents that left him\u00a0troubled situation. At\u00a0Vagator, a defiant individual proceeded to swim\u00a0in the waters after numerous instructions from the lifesavers to avoid swimming due to the unpredictable currents and harsh waves. The individual was\u00a0rescued by the lifesaver Rajesh who rushed to the aid of the individual\u00a0who was left in a dangerous\u00a0situation\u00a0after a strong wave\u00a0knocked\u00a0the individual and left him\u00a0wrestling for survival in the\u00a0deep\u00a0waters.
