GOA BRANCH OF ICAI-WIRC HOSTS 2-DAY CONFERENCE FOR CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS<\/div>\n

Goa Khabar:The Goa branch of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) announced that they are in advanced talks for signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Directorate of Higher Education, Government of Goa; on the opening day of the annual Sub-regional conference being held on 12th and 13th August, at Vivanta in Panaji.<\/strong><\/div>\n

The E-book version of ‘Compendium of MSME Policy & Incentive Schemes of Goa’ was also released on the occasion by Goa branch of ICAI under the Western India Regional Council (WIRC) in the presence of WIRC chairman CA Murtuza Kachwala and CA Gaurav Kenkre, Chairman of Goa branch among others. The E-book will be available free of cost at\u00a0goa-icai.org<\/a><\/div>\n

The two-day conference named ‘Jigyasa’ which in Marathi, means curiosity;\u00a0 symbolises thirst for the knowledge. Over 150 participants including the freshly graduated CAs, are in attendance for the skilling sessions in Accounting, GST and Taxation fields; being conducted by the industry experts from all over India.<\/div>\n

While the Sub-regional conference catered to the 360 degree outlook to upgrade the knowledge of the participants, the organisers also continued to focus on the motto of bringing the college students’ ability up to meet the demand of the industry, CA Gaurav Kenkre said: “The proposed MoU with DHE is for skill development of Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) students. (Since) the final product of BCom college is nowhere close to the expected standard of the industry, so we are trying to bridge this gap with a unique course called ‘train earn and learn’ – proposed by WIRC, where we give the students practical training of actual income tax portal, GST portal, TDS.”<\/div>\n

Kenkre also stated that a tree plantation drive will be undertaken by the Goa branch of ICAI along the Nuvem-Margao bypass road, in association with the PWD, on Saturday.<\/div>\n

While emphasising on the WIRC’s readiness to pump in practical experience into the academic offering, CA Murtuza Kachwala also highlighted the challenges faced by the CAs with regards to sustainability among others. “Everyone across the globe are worried about sustainability and global accounting professionals are also worried about that. People are worried about ‘3P’ reporting now – ‘planet, people and profit’. In India, the top 1000 listed companies have to report on ‘management responsibility and sustainability reporting’ this year. There are about 120 criteria on which reporting is required to be done. The whole of\u00a0 accounting profession is now looking to build a whole new database and records for this reporting,” he explained.<\/div>\n

The WIRC publishes a monthly newsletter for the benefit of the members, wherein all information relating to forthcoming programmes, law updates. It also includes matters relating to Corporate laws, Direct and Indirect laws, SEBI guidelines, Co-operative, etc. to mention a few areas.<\/div>\n

Meanwhile, WIRC will host the world congress of accountants, also known as Accountants Olympics, in November this year in Mumbai. It will be held in India after a gap of over 100 years.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
