Congress Demands Comprehensive Investigation into Alleged Political Connections and Fake Excise Commissioner Appointment Order<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Goa Khabar: <\/strong>Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Girish Chodankar today demanded a comprehensive and impartial investigation into the alleged Cash for Jobs scam, questioning the reported links of individuals associated with the BJP and demanding the immediate removal of Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe names of Pooja Naik, Deepashri Gawas, Shridhar Kerkar Satarkar of Priol and now Ajit Shankwalkar of Panaji, who is reportedly an active BJP karyakarta, have brought the alleged political connections of the Cash for Jobs scam under serious scrutiny. Why do BJP links keep surfacing with every new arrest? Is this merely a coincidence, or does it point towards a larger network that the investigating agencies must uncover?\u201d Chodankar questioned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He said the people of Goa have a right to know whether the alleged scam was limited to individual acts or whether a wider network of intermediaries and politically connected persons was involved. He stressed that every allegation must be investigated thoroughly and that no individual should be shielded because of political affiliations or influence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Chodankar further pointed to the alleged fake appointment order for an Excise Commissioner, stating that the matter raises disturbing questions about the misuse of official documents, the credibility of government procedures and the possibility of fraud being perpetrated in the name of public employment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe alleged fake Excise Commissioner appointment order makes this case even more serious. The scale and nature of the allegations warrant a detailed investigation into the possible flow of money, the role of intermediaries and any political patronage. The seriousness of the matter inevitably brings to mind the infamous Abdul Karim Telgi fake stamp paper scam. Goa cannot afford to treat such allegations casually,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Questioning the role of central investigating agencies, Chodankar asked, \u201cWhere are the Enforcement Directorate and the CBI? Have the financial transactions and possible wider connections been examined adequately? If the evidence points towards a larger network, why should a comprehensive investigation not be initiated? The people of Goa deserve answers, not silence.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Chodankar held Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant accountable for ensuring that the investigation is conducted without fear or favour, noting that the Chief Minister also holds the Home portfolio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAs Chief Minister and Home Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant has a responsibility to ensure that the truth comes out. The investigation must establish whether any politically connected individuals were involved, whether money changed hands and whether anyone attempted to misuse official authority. There must be no selective action and no protection for the influential,\u201d he asserted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He demanded a comprehensive probe into all aspects of the alleged scam, including the reported political connections, financial transactions, authenticity of the appointment order and the possible involvement of other individuals. He also called for accountability at the highest level of government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cGoa\u2019s unemployed youth are looking for opportunities based on merit, qualifications and hard work. Any alleged racket that exploits their aspirations in exchange for money is a grave betrayal of their trust. If the government cannot ensure transparency in recruitment and accountability in such a serious case, the Chief Minister must take responsibility,\u201d Chodankar said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe people of Goa cannot be expected to accept a situation in which alleged BJP connections repeatedly raise questions while the larger truth remains unclear.
