{"id":115714,"date":"2026-10-05T19:38:40","date_gmt":"2026-10-05T14:08:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.goakhabar.com\/?p=115714"},"modified":"2026-10-05T19:38:43","modified_gmt":"2026-10-05T14:08:43","slug":"konkani-documentary-hovyo-echoes-of-the-past-makes-international-debut-at-almamoura-festival-abu-dhabi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.goakhabar.com\/?p=115714","title":{"rendered":"Konkani Documentary \u2018Hovyo: Echoes of the Past\u2019 Makes International Debut at Almamoura Festival, Abu Dhabi"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Goa Khabar:<\/strong> Goa\u2019s Konkani documentary \u2018Hovyo: Echoes of the Past\u2019, directed by Guirim-based filmmaker Tanisha Pawar, has achieved its first major international selection at the Almamoura Festival in Abu Dhabi, scheduled to be held from October 12 to 16, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The documentary explores \u2018Hovyo\u2019, a traditional Goan folk-singing tradition, highlighting its cultural significance and its place in Goa\u2019s heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"339\" src=\"https:\/\/www.goakhabar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/06.10.2026.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-115696\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.goakhabar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/06.10.2026.png 300w, https:\/\/www.goakhabar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/06.10.2026-265x300.png 265w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The film features several resource persons who provide insights into the tradition, including Dr Pandurang Phaldesai, Milind Mate, Vaishnavi Pritesh Raikar, Silvester Vaz, Dakshita Salgaonkar, Kranti Chari, Sushmita Gawas and Nayana Priolkar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2018Hovyo: Echoes of the Past\u2019 was produced as Tanisha Pawar\u2019s final-year project at St. Xavier\u2019s College, Mapusa. Pawar worked on the documentary as its writer, researcher and director, besides contributing to its editing and cinematography.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Vaibhavi Joshi provided the voice-over for the documentary, while Loukik Avasare and Manoj Rathod contributed to videography and editing.
