According to police, Vijay Shah (48), a resident of Sakhardande Apartments, Dadavaidhya Road, Panaji, lodged a complaint on July 6, 2026, stating that an unknown person had hacked his OPPO A79 5G mobile phone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The alleged incident took place on May 29, 2026, at around 12 noon. Police said the accused allegedly gained unauthorised access to the complainant\u2019s mobile phone and carried out multiple online banking transactions without his knowledge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A total amount of \u20b97,54,638 was allegedly transferred through UPI to multiple bank accounts, thereby causing financial loss to the complainant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Following the complaint, Panaji Police registered Crime No. 117\/2026 under Sections 318(4) and 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and launched an investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n During the investigation, the Panaji Police team, using source information and technical assistance, traced and apprehended accused Abdul Haseeb K.P., a native of Pandikkad in Malappuram, Kerala, from Kerala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The operation was carried out by a team led by Panaji Police Inspector Vijaykumar Chodankar, along with PSI Mahadev D. Pednekar, PC Aditya Mardolkar and PC Shubham Bhonsle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Police said the team developed crucial information and successfully executed the operation, leading to the detection of the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The investigation and operation were conducted under the overall supervision of Panaji SDPO Sudesh R.
