Goa Khabar:Aam Aadmi Party organised a Goa Townhall against forced E20 petrol in a packed hall in Panjim, where people from across Goa came forward to share the problems they are facing due to the forced rollout of E20 petrol.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A motorcycle pilot at the Townhall said that his bike gives very low mileage and often stalls in between due to E20 fuel. A Swiggy delivery partner said that he has to work 15\u201318 hours a day because a large portion of his earnings goes towards fuel expenses due to the reduced mileage caused by E20.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A mechanical engineer from Benaulim, who runs a superbike workshop, said that since the introduction of E20 petrol, he has seen several issues with throttle bodies, along with white powder accumulation caused by the separation of ethanol and petrol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Vehicle from shared how his family has faced a 30% drop in mileage, damage to rubber components and fuel leakage after using E20 petrol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing the people, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal said that Goa is among the states most affected by E20 because more than 85% of families own a two-wheeler and more than 40% own a four-wheeler, which is much higher than the national average. He said that Goans are therefore disproportionately affected by the forced rollout of E20 and are opposing it, but are being misguided into believing that E20 has not yet been introduced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He stated that around 7 lakh people joined the online National townhall against E20 earlier this month, making it one of the biggest online campaigns. He said that AAP has consistently raised the issue and has been trying to bring the concerns of vehicle owners before the Government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kejriwal said that he had written to 29 automobile manufacturers seeking clarity on the E20 compliance of vehicles manufactured before 2023. He stated that officials from nine companies responded off the record that E20 could be dangerous for vehicles that are not compatible with the fuel. He stated that automobile manufacturers are being threatened with ED and CBI raids by the BJP Government to prevent them from speaking against E20.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He further stated that a study by SIAM had highlighted concerns regarding E20, but alleged that the Government put pressure on SIAM and made it withdraw the report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kejriwal also raised concerns over the diversion of sugarcane towards ethanol production, stating that this has created a shortage of sugar for Indians and increased dependence on imports, which could put pressure on the country\u2019s foreign exchange reserves. He stated that sugar prices have increased by around \u20b930 per kg within a month, while the price of E20 petrol has remained high.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said that it is evident that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is under pressure from US President Donald Trump to purchase ethanol from America. He warned that the Government will continue introducing E20, E40 and even higher ethanol blends in diesel without adequate studies, ultimately making people suffer the consequences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kejriwal said that the Government will not stop the forced rollout of E20 unless people come together and raise their voices against it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He called upon Goans to unite and oppose the forced rollout of E20 petrol, stating that the arrogance of the BJP Government must be brought down through democratic means.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He appealed to the people of Goa to ensure that the BJP loses power and demanded the rollback of forced E20 petrol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
