Organised by <strong>St. Mathias Sports Club, Malar, in association with Goa Tourism<\/strong>, the day-long celebration will showcase the distinctive cultural character of Malar through traditional festivities, heritage experiences, music, food and entertainment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"340\" src=\"https:\/\/www.goakhabar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/14.08.2026.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-114754\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.goakhabar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/14.08.2026.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.goakhabar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/14.08.2026-265x300.jpg 265w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bonderam is a much-loved Goan monsoon celebration that brings communities together through colourful flags, floats, music, traditional performances and festivities. Rooted in the cultural life of Divar, the celebration reflects the island\u2019s strong community traditions and its unique way of keeping Goan heritage alive across generations. <strong>Malar Bonderam<\/strong> carries this spirit forward by bringing together residents, performers, youngsters and visitors for a celebration that combines tradition with contemporary entertainment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year\u2019s celebration also marks an effort to revive and strengthen the spirit of Bonderam in Malar, with the St. Mathias Sports Club bringing the community together through activities that reconnect younger generations with the village\u2019s traditions and cultural identity. The celebration seeks to preserve the character of the festival while creating a welcoming experience for visitors to discover the heritage and community life of Malar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Minister for Tourism, Shri Rohan A. Khaunte<\/strong>, said, <em>\u201cFestivals such as Malar Bonderam remind us that Goa\u2019s culture is not something confined to museums or preserved only in history books; it continues to live through our villages, our communities and the traditions passed from one generation to the next. Divar has a character and cultural identity of its own, and Malar Bonderam brings that identity to life through its music, customs, heritage and community participation. As Goa Tourism, our endeavour is to create greater opportunities for visitors to discover these authentic experiences and understand the Goa that exists beyond its beaches. By supporting celebrations such as Malar Bonderam, we are not only promoting a festival, but also helping preserve and share the stories, traditions and community spirit that make Goa truly distinctive.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the support of the <strong>Tourism Department and other Government departments and agencies<\/strong>, the <strong>St. Mathias Sports Club<\/strong> has embarked on a journey to give the people of the island and visitors an experience they will cherish for a long time to come. The celebration takes on an added significance as <strong>Malar Bonderam coincides with Independence Day and the Feast of the Our Lady of Assumption<\/strong>, making the occasion a special coming together of community, tradition and celebration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Shri Sandip Jacques, IAS, Commissioner cum Secretary Tourism<\/strong>, said, <em>\u201cMalar Bonderam is about bringing our community together and giving our traditions a new life. We want the younger generation to understand and participate in the customs that have been part of our village for years, while also creating an experience that visitors can enjoy and connect with. This year\u2019s celebration is an effort to revive the spirit of Bonderam in Malar and bring our heritage, music, traditions and community together once again.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As part of the celebration there will be <strong>heritage workshops on Patoleo and Mollam, GED Talks, local acoustic music and Bonderamchem Jevon<\/strong>, followed by an afternoon of cultural activities including <strong>Bonderamchi Pasoi, Konkani medleys, Katodeo and a fancy dress competition<\/strong>. The heritage walk, beginning at <strong>St. Mathias Church<\/strong>, will take participants through the village, offering a closer look at its cultural landscape and community traditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The celebrations will culminate with the <strong>traditional Float Parade<\/strong>, followed by an evening of live entertainment featuring <strong>Mark Revlon &amp; Band, Johnny B Gud and Reza, MacAttack, RJ Joed and Sonia Shirsat<\/strong>, with live bands and a DJ night continuing the festivities into the evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Director of Tourism, Shri Kedar Naik<\/strong>, said, <em>\u201cMalar Bonderam offers visitors an opportunity to experience Goa through its living traditions, community spirit and cultural expressions. From the heritage walk and traditional activities to the colourful floats, local music and performances, the celebration brings together the many elements that make Goa\u2019s cultural landscape unique.
