He shared these words of wisdom after inaugurating the third academic year of the ‘Sur Sobhann’ Hindustani Classical Vocal Training program. The inauguration took place at Kalaangann on July 12 with the traditional lighting of the lamp, during which Rodrigues also distributed certificates to the Students of 2025-26 batch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Commending the parents, Rodrigues praised their dedication to nurturing their children’s musical talents despite busy Sunday schedules. He urged them to continuously encourage their children but cautioned against over-celebrating early, minor successes simply because they appear on television or perform on a large platform. Instead, he suggested teaching children to dream big while giving due respect to every stage they perform on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Presiding over the program, Mandd Sobhann President Louis J. Pinto stated that as an academic training course, students must maintain discipline and attend classes without fail. He emphasized that formal classical music training has the potential to elevate Konkani to greater heights. In her introductory address, Chief Trainer Shilpa Cutinha briefed the gathering on the program’s past achievements and outlined the vision for the new academic year. Sumell member Alron Rodrigues was also present on the dais. Grade 1 student Lenora Eva Mascarenhas, who secured 100% attendance during the 2025-26 academic year was honored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dealle Dsouza, Ashwil Colaco, Victor Mathias, Savitha Saldanha, and Sandeep Mascarenhas were also felicitated in recognition of their year-round assistance with the training program. Vikas Lasrado smoothly compered the event and proposed the vote of thanks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inspired by Eric Ozario, ‘Sur Sobhann’ was launched three years ago with a vision to provide classical vocal training to children and foster the growth of Konkani music. The initiative has seen steady growth: 77 children were trained in its inaugural year, followed by 107 children across two grades in its second. This year, 110 children have registered for the course. Section-wise classes are held every Sunday from 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM at Kalaangann, with all required textbooks provided to the students. In addition to maintaining a mandatory 75% attendance and passing theory and practical examinations, Mandd Sobhann provides students with a platform to showcase their evolving talents through a Monthly Theatre program.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
