Goa Khabar:<\/strong>\u00a0The\u00a0Goa Electricity Department<\/strong>\u00a0has issued a public notice announcing the withdrawal of\u00a0Excess Demand Charges<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Excess Energy Charges<\/strong>\u00a0imposed on Low Tension (LT) consumers, while also introducing an\u00a0Automatic Enhancement of Sanctioned Load<\/strong>\u00a0mechanism to simplify billing and load regularisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the notification, the excess demand and energy charges levied on LT consumers for exceeding their sanctioned load from November 2025 onwards have been withdrawn as a one-time government measure<\/strong>. Electricity bills for the period from November 2025 to June 23, 2026<\/strong> will be regenerated, with consumers being charged only the normal applicable tariff for the electricity consumed. Additional penalty components and Delayed Payment Charges (DPC)<\/strong> on the revised bills will also be waived.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The department has also introduced an Automatic Enhancement of Sanctioned Load<\/strong> for consumers who exceeded their approved load. Their sanctioned load will automatically be revised based on the highest demand recorded between November 2025 and June 2026<\/strong>. The department stated that this is a one-time exercise<\/strong>, after which automatic load enhancement will continue on a monthly basis until March 31, 2027<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Consumers whose enhanced sanctioned load exceeds 5 kW (Single Phase)<\/strong> or 10 kW (Three Phase)<\/strong> will be required to apply online for regularisation by submitting the prescribed documents within three months<\/strong>. Those whose enhanced load remains within these limits will not be required to submit any application, and their revised load will be deemed regularised for billing purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a separate public notice, the department also announced a simplified procedure for new single-phase electricity connections up to 5 kW<\/strong> under its Ease of Doing Business<\/strong> initiative. Applicants will now only need to submit proof of identity<\/strong> and proof of ownership or occupancy<\/strong> of the premises. The earlier requirement of submitting a wiring completion and test report from a licensed electrical contractor, along with a joint inspection by the Junior Engineer, has been waived. However, field-level verification will still be conducted before the electricity supply is released to ensure safety and compliance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
