Such hollow promises are a gamble on the health and lives of the people.\u201d \u2013 Mamata Maben.\u201d \u2013 Mamata Maben<\/strong>*<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Goa Khabar:<\/strong>AAP Ponda Assembly President Geetesh Naik, Mahila Wing President Mamata Maben, Vice President Amit Jog and Ponda Organisation Secretary Santan Dias visited the ID Hospital and submitted a memorandum to the Medical Superintendent seeking the status of the promises made by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant during the Ponda by-election regarding the upgradation of the ID Hospital into a fully functional District Hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Addressing the media, AAP Ponda Assembly President Geetesh Naik stated that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant was continuously visiting Ponda during the by-election and promised to transform the ID Hospital from a Sub-District Hospital into a fully functional District Hospital but the promise was nothing more than an election gimmick made to secure votes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Geetesh Naik said that it took the BJP Government ten years to merely announce the upgradation of the hospital and questioned whether it would take another ten years just to begin the groundwork. He stated that after meeting the Medical Superintendent, it became evident that no substantial work has begun to fulfil the Chief Minister\u2019s promise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Taking a dig at Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar, Geetesh Naik questioned how a minister who has remained in the BJP Government for years is now trying to politically enter Ponda without first ensuring that one of Ponda\u2019s most important healthcare demands is fulfilled. Dhavlikar, for his personal gains, has dragged the party down and is now trying to establish his presence in Ponda to further take the constituency down. He challenged Dhavalikar to first upgrade the ID Hospital into a fully functional District Hospital before thinking of contesting elections in Ponda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Geetesh Naik further narrated an incident where he found a patient lying unconscious outside the hospital after being turned away because no doctor was available. He said he personally took the patient inside, following which the patient was referred to Goa Medical College, where doctors diagnosed a brain haemorrhage requiring urgent treatment. He stated that such incidents expose the serious risks faced by people due to the shortage of doctors, no specialist surgeons, a Critical Care Unit and a Blood Bank at the hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He claimed that by repeatedly making promises during elections and failing to implement them afterwards, the Chief Minister and the BJP Government are gambling with the lives and health of the people of Ponda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n AAP Mahila Wing President Mamata Maben stated that the people of Ponda have not witnessed any meaningful improvement in the ID Hospital despite repeated assurances by the CM. She said patients continue to be referred elsewhere because the hospital lacks basic facilities required to provide proper treatment. She pointed out that the hospital still has no Blood Bank, no Critical Care Unit, inadequate availability of essential medicines and a shortage of specialist doctors. Mamata Maben urged the government to stop making empty promises and instead address the genuine healthcare needs of the people who elected them to power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n AAP leaders reiterated their demand that the BJP Government immediately fulfil the Chief Minister\u2019s promise by upgrading the ID Hospital into a fully functional District Hospital equipped with specialist doctors, a Blood Bank, a Critical Care Unit and all essential healthcare facilities.
