We need to reclaim spaces where people can agree to disagree,\u201d Jha said. Jha was delivering a talk on the topic: \u201cFuture of journalism- potential and challenges\u201d at the International Centre Goa (ICG) organised by ICG in collaboration with Bika Utsav on Saturday evening.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jha was of the firm opinion that good journalism would grow as a valuable, public utility service in the years to come. According to Jha, the medium did not matter. \u201cThere is always place for good journalism in a democracy. People may be consuming more news on the phone, but it is important to go meet the reader,\u201d Jha said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"323\" src=\"https:\/\/www.goakhabar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/17.04.2026.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-111482\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.goakhabar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/17.04.2026.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.goakhabar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/17.04.2026-279x300.jpg 279w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Jha rued the fact that large business houses were owning the major media channels in the country. Jha said that it was important for independent media to survive. Giving the example of the Indian Express newspaper, he said, \u201cOur owner has no other business interests but the newsroom.
