Goa Khabar : In a massive midnight operation, the Goa Police Crime Branch dismantled an interstate illegal cricket betting syndicate, arresting 10 individuals across two separate raids in the Ribandar and Kadamba Plateau areas. The police seized material worth approximately Rs 28 lakh, including a staggering 95 mobile phones and 77 SIM cards.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The operation, led by SP Crime Rahul Gupta (IPS)<\/strong>, targeted individuals managing financial transactions for bets placed on popular illegal platforms \u201cReddi888\u201d<\/strong> and \u201cFairplay\u201d<\/strong> during the ongoing IPL season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Raid I: Karekar Residency, Ribandar<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Acting on specific intelligence, a Crime Branch team raided a villa at Karekar Residency in the early hours of April 16. The raid resulted in the arrest of eight individuals hailing from Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Accused:<\/strong> Digvijay (29), Manish (21), Sameer (20), Gautam (28), Dhruv (20), Kamal Singh (22), Bhupendra Singh (20), and Karan Chauhan (20).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Raid II: Kadamba Plateau, Old Goa<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    During the initial crackdown, fresh intelligence led the police to Villa No. C-76 at the ‘Gerra River of Joy’ complex. A second team successfully raided the location, arresting two more individuals from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • Accused:<\/strong> Lucky (27) and Karan (29).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      Legal Action and Modus Operandi<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      SP Rahul Gupta informed that the accused were acting as “handlers,” managing the pay-ins and pay-outs<\/strong> for bettors using illegal gambling websites. By controlling dozens of SIM cards and bank accounts, they attempted to mask the money trail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The police have registered two separate offences under:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      • BNS Act:<\/strong> Section 319 (2) read with 3 (5).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • IT Act:<\/strong> Section 66-C.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Public Gambling Act:<\/strong> Sections 3 and 4.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        The Investigative Team<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

        The high-stakes raids were conducted under the supervision of SP Rahul Gupta (IPS)<\/strong>, assisted by SP Jivba Dalvi<\/strong> (holding charge of DySP Crime), PI Vikas Deykar<\/strong>, and PI Arjun Sangodkar<\/strong>.
