Goa Khabar <\/strong>: The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) has launched a blistering attack on the Pramod Sawant-led BJP government following a startling admission by State Minister Ramesh Tawadkar regarding the drug trade in the state. GPCC Media Department Chairman Amarnath Panjikar termed the Minister\u2019s statement a “confession of total governance failure.”<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The controversy erupted after Minister Tawadkar reportedly admitted that drugs are easily available along Goa\u2019s coastal belt, remarking that “nobody can say that drugs are not available.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Zero Tolerance” or Zero Action?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Panjikar stated that the Minister\u2019s honesty has inadvertently exposed the hollowness of the BJP\u2019s long-standing claims of having a “zero tolerance” policy toward narcotics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This is a direct indictment of the Chief Minister\u2019s administration. For years, the BJP has fed the public a narrative of strict enforcement, but when their own senior minister admits the reality is the opposite, it proves that the drug menace is flourishing under government patronage or sheer incompetence,” Panjikar asserted.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Questions Over Enforcement and Intent<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Congress spokesperson questioned how illegal substances continue to move freely despite the presence of multiple state and central enforcement agencies. He raised concerns about whether there is a “deliberate attempt to look the other way” by those in power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Panjikar highlighted three major concerns:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Lawlessness:<\/strong> The “double engine government” has failed to maintain law and order, allowing the coastal belt to become a hub for illegal activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Congress Demands Accountability<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Demanding more than just rhetoric from the state government, the GPCC has called for an immediate overhaul of the state’s anti-drug strategy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The Congress\u2019s Demand Charter includes:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      “Goa cannot afford to be a silent spectator while its social fabric is being torn apart. The people deserve transparency, not just empty promises,” Panjikar concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
