Goa Khabar: Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao voiced concern over the hurried implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP), noting that inspections have already declared some schools unsafe.<\/strong><\/div>\n

During the question hour, Alemao said that\u00a0 the structural audits have not been conducted in several talukas, and at the same time some schools have been declared unsafe only after inspection, it raises a serious question.<\/div>\n

He said that in talukas like, Pernem, Parts of Bardez, Tiswadi, Ponda, Dharbandora, Quepem, Canacona, Mormugao etc, audits have\u00a0 not be done.<\/div>\n

\u201cThis is a state wide safety gap. GPS Bairo, St Cruz\u00a0 , Govt High School Ganvchem Bhat, Merces\u00a0 and GPS Punarvasan Sal\u00a0 are declare as Unsafe.\u00a0 Children were studying in unsafe buildings until audit exposed them,\u201d he pointed out.<\/div>\n

\u201cWe have already seen roof and ceiling collapses in recent years.\u00a0 If audits were not conducted earlier, children may have been studying in unsafe buildings without anyone knowing,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n

He has questioned government about how many schools in the State are still pending structural audit and demanded the urgent action in the matter.<\/div>\n

Panaji: Reacting to the State Budget, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao dismissed it as hollow and misleading. \u201cThis is not a \u2018Ghatmut\u2019 (strong) budget, but a \u2018Jhutmut\u2019 (false) budget filled with empty promises,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n

Alemao pointed out that the government is burdened with massive debt and has failed to clarify sources of funds or revenue. \u201cWhat is provided is peanuts and chicken-feed. Seventy percent of revenue is already locked into salaries, pensions, social welfare commitments, and interest payments,\u201d he noted.<\/div>\n

He criticized the absence of a clear employment strategy. \u201cThe Chief Minister is silent on job creation targets. Our youth are desperately searching for employment, while this government is busy searching for ways to loot,\u201d Alemao charged.<\/div>\n

Calling the budget an election-year gimmick, he said, \u201cThe Chief Minister has tried to lure the public with fake promises. He repeated the word \u2018Ghatmut\u2019 hundreds of times, but this budget is nothing more than \u2018Jhutmut.\u2019 These false promises will be exposed.\u201d<\/div>\n
