Goa Khabar:<\/b>\u00a0Globally acclaimed filmmaker Rima Das adds another international honour to the journey of her latest feature\u00a0\u00a0Not a Hero<\/i>\u00a0which had its World Premiere at the prestigious Berlin International Film Festival 2026. The film\u00a0\u00a0won the\u00a0Crystal Bear<\/b>\u00a0Special Mention for the Best Film<\/b>\u00a0at the festival.<\/p>\n
The film was selected in the\u00a0Generation Kplus Competition section<\/b>, a category that highlights films for children and young audiences and celebrates works that deeply connect with them.<\/p>\n
Sharing the moment with her team in Berlin,\u00a0Rima Das<\/b>\u00a0said,\u201cThis recognition is deeply meaningful to me. Not a Hero was made by listening closely and trusting children, their quiet strength, their courage, and their right to choose who they want to become. I\u2019m grateful to the Generation jury, the Generation team, and the audiences who received the film with such openness and care.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n
Her film\u00a0Bulbul Can Sing<\/i>\u00a0previously received a Special Mention in the Generation 14plus section in 2019. This is Das\u2019 third film at the festival.<\/p>\n

Lead actor\u00a0Bhuman Bhargav Das<\/b>, who plays the central character of Mivan, expressed his excitement:\u201cI\u2019m so happy to win. We had amazing screenings with so many people watching and a lot of children like me too came to watch. They were sharing their thoughts, appreciating the film. Some came to take autograph, and ask for photos. It was the first time I saw such a big theatre. This win feels beautiful because it means that people are listening to children like me and caring about what we feel.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n
Sukanya Boruah<\/b>, who plays another important character Pahi also shared her joy:
\n\u201cThis is my first film and my first Berlinale, and it still feels like a dream. Being part of Not a Hero has been an amazing journey. Working in the film taught me so much about listening, observing, and connecting with children in a real way. This experience is something I will always remember.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n
Produced by Flying River Films in association with Akanga Film Asia and TrainTripper Films,\u00a0Not a Hero<\/i>\u00a0had its world sales rights acquired ahead of its premiere by Paris-based sales company MMM Sales.<\/p>\n

Rima Das is a two-time National Award\u2013winning filmmaker celebrated for her indigenous, deeply personal storytelling that explores coming-of-age, identity, and life intertwined with nature. In 2024, she became a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and serves as a Brand Ambassador for the Toronto International Film Festival\u2019s\u00a0Share Her Journey<\/i>\u00a0initiative championing gender equity in cinema.<\/p>\n
