Khaunte stated, “Introduced in the 18th century, Carnaval found renewed life in 1965 through the efforts of musician Timoteo Fernandes, during whose time King Momo first arrived on a traditional bullock cart. Today in Porvorim, those nostalgic moments came alive once again when King Momo led the parade in a traditional bullock cart, reminiscent of the earlier celebrations, rather than the large, elaborate floats commonly seen in recent years. This revival of tradition offers people an opportunity to reconnect with their cultural roots, while allowing the younger generation to experience, appreciate, and carry forward the legacy of Carnaval in its original essence.

He further stated, “I truly cherish Carnaval for the sense of community it represents.
