{"id":109498,"date":"2026-02-02T20:35:13","date_gmt":"2026-02-02T15:05:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.goakhabar.com\/?p=109498"},"modified":"2026-02-02T20:35:13","modified_gmt":"2026-02-02T15:05:13","slug":"american-musicians-to-conduct-free-workshops-at-goa-jazz-academy-in-february","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.goakhabar.com\/?p=109498","title":{"rendered":"American musicians to conduct free workshops at Goa Jazz academy in February"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b><\/b><strong>Goa Khabar : The Bluegrass Journeymen Academy (BJA) from the USA will be conducting free music workshops in the month of February at the Goa Jazz academy (GJA) in the Guirim village of North Goa.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Bluegrass is an acoustic music tradition originating in the Appalachian region of the United States, drawing from folk, blues, and old-time string band music.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Centred around instruments such as guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle, and bass, the tradition places strong emphasis on rhythm, listening, and ensemble interaction.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As part of the one-month music residency, the BJA will offer free instrument classes, thrice a week at GJA in guitar, banjo, mandolin, and violin, open to selected participants with basic knowledge in music.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Importantly, the BJA will conduct free music workshops in several schools in Goa introducing young students to acoustic string instruments and the fundamentals of ensemble music-making.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This one-month project includes workshops, live performances, and a final performance at the GJA, presenting the musical work developed over the course of the month.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Says Divya Gupta, co-founder of GJA, \u201cThrough sustained educational initiatives and global collaborations, GJA continues to position Goa as a destination for serious music education, creative exchange, and vibrant cultural activity.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Goa Khabar : The Bluegrass Journeymen Academy (BJA) from the USA will be conducting free music workshops in the month of February at the Goa Jazz academy (GJA) in the Guirim village of North Goa.
