{"id":109127,"date":"2026-01-17T13:40:22","date_gmt":"2026-01-17T08:10:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.goakhabar.com\/?p=109127"},"modified":"2026-01-17T13:40:22","modified_gmt":"2026-01-17T08:10:22","slug":"mou-between-captain-of-ports-department-govt-of-goa-hites","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.goakhabar.com\/?p=109127","title":{"rendered":"MoU between Captain of Ports Department, Govt. of Goa &#038; HITES"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Goa Khabar : The Government of Goa, through the Captain of Ports Department, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with HITES (HLL Infratech Services Ltd.), a Central Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Health &amp; Family Welfare, Government of India.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>HITES is a reputed PSU with specialized expertise in disaster management, infrastructure resilience, and technology-driven solutions, which will be leveraged for Goa\u2019s maritime sector.<\/p>\n<p>The MoU aims to modernize and disaster-proof Goa\u2019s ports and inland waterways, ensuring long-term structural safety, operational continuity and public safety.<\/p>\n<p>AI-based monitoring and disaster-proof solutions will be implemented across ports and inland waterways for real-time surveillance, early detection of risks, and rapid response.<\/p>\n<p>The collaboration will focus on Disaster Mitigation and Rehabilitation works, including:<br \/>\n1. Strengthening of jetties and waterfront infrastructure<br \/>\n2. Strengthening Search and Rescue infrastructure and response capability<br \/>\n3. Induction of specialized disaster management boats<br \/>\n4. Enhanced oil spill preparedness and response mechanisms<br \/>\n5. Scientific dredging of rivers and channels to prevent flooding and improve water flow<br \/>\n6. Construction of retaining walls and embankments to protect against erosion and flooding<br \/>\n7. AI-enabled surveillance and monitoring systems<br \/>\n8. Public warning and alert systems for extreme weather and emergencies<br \/>\n9. Installation of Early Warning Systems for cyclones, floods and tidal surges<br \/>\n10. Underground Cabling to reduce vulnerability during cyclones and floods<br \/>\n11. Development of cyclone shelters in vulnerable coastal and riverine areas<br \/>\n12. Support to coastal road infrastructure for evacuation and emergency access<br \/>\n13. Strengthening overall emergency preparedness and response systems<br \/>\n14. AI integration across planning, monitoring and disaster response operations<\/p>\n<p>This initiative reflects the Government of Goa\u2019s strong commitment to coastal development, enhanced maritime safety and climate-adaptive infrastructure. By leveraging advanced technology-driven and AI-based disaster-resilient solutions the collaboration aims to safeguard lives, livelihoods and critical maritime and economic activities.
