By offering local points of access for a wide range of essential services, these centers are making it easier for residents to obtain documents, apply for schemes, and access welfare programs, all without the hassle of visiting multiple government offices.

The CSC initiative in Goa builds on the national Digital India Programme launched by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India. Seeing how much people needed easier access, the state government shaped this model to fit local needs through its Gramin Mitra Yojana, implemented by the Department of Information Technology, Electronics & Communications (ITE&C), Government of Goa.

What makes CSCs work is the involvement of Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs), local individuals who act as the access points for delivery of various digital services at village level. By providing hands-on assistance and guidance, they are helping citizens, especially those unfamiliar with digital platforms, navigate services with ease and confidence.

The impact of these efforts is evident, more people are turning to these centers for help. From 1st April 2025 to 10th September 2025, 30,330 transactions have been completed through 351 active VLE’s across 191 Village Panchayats. With registered CSCs and four new centers coming up across additional locations, the network is expanding to ensure even more citizens can benefit from the services it offers.

The services provided by CSCs are comprehensive and tailored to everyday needs. From applying for identity documents like Aadhaar and PAN cards to securing birth or marriage certificates, accessing land records, licenses, and pension assistance, everything is now just a visit away.

Goa’s CSC initiative shows how technology, combined with governance and local community support, can transform the way services are delivered. By making government services more accessible and user-friendly, these centers are not just simplifying processes, they are building trust, breaking down barriers, and creating a system where everyone’s needs are within reach.

Goa Khabar : In the coastal state of Goa, Common Service Centers (CSCs) are changing the way people access government and digital services, especially in rural areas.
