<\/p>\nAt Miramar Beach, Serendipity Arts Festival unveiled renowned architect Vinu Daniel’s latest installation \u2013 Terra Grove, transforming the beachfront with a reimagination of how public spaces can be inviting, responsive, and sustainable in Goa’s sun-drenched, tropical landscape.<\/p>\n
Speaking about Terra-grove (sometimes called kulhad pavilion),\u00a0architect Vinu Daniel\u00a0said, “Kulhads or mud cups used to be the most familiar sight at railway stations, strewn across train tracks . Today, our beaches also face a similar challenge and have become the prime spot where all of the waste we have discarded comes crashing back. This kulhad pavilion, made entirely with these mud cups\u00a0 is not only a reminder of the sheer amount of waste, but how it can also be used positively and become a shade to the many who travel to Miramar beach. These unreinforced kulhad vaults meander across the side of the beach providing a shade\/ a home to\u00a0 both humans and animals alike.”<\/p>\n

Crafted from terracotta Guna tiles, the structure cools the surrounding area while blending seamlessly into Miramar Beach’s landscape, evoking a sense of harmony with nature. Terra Grove was conceived as part of Thukral and Tagra’s 2024 project,\u00a0Multiplay, and is supported by Milton and Panjim Smart Cities.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s edition further expands the scale and ambition of public-facing works by extending programming across multiple nodes of Panjim. The Directorate of Accounts, PWD Complex, Captain of Ports Jetty (Old Goa), Santa Monica Jetty, and SAG Ground collectively form a vibrant cultural circuit where installations, performances, culinary projects, and craft exhibitions coexist with the city\u2019s natural landscape and architectural heritage. By blurring the boundaries between the formal and the everyday, the Festival turns Goa into an open gallery\u2014inviting residents, travellers, families, students, and first-time visitors to experience art as part of the city\u2019s rhythm and daily movement.<\/h3>\n
