The day\u2019s proceedings showcased how collaboration between the government, educational institutions, and industry can expand opportunities, challenge barriers, and strengthen pathways to inclusion.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The day began with \u201cBeyond Barriers: Expanding Horizons for Persons with Disabilities,\u201d a career workshop curated by Radio Udaan in collaboration with MAD Foundation. The session was inaugurated byShri. Subhash Phal Dessai, Hon\u2019ble Minister for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities,, who underscored the importance of shifting societal mindsets alongside physical accessibility. \u201cToday we have gathered to discuss the crucial aspect of breaking down barriers that hinder the full participation of persons with disabilities,\u201d Subhash Phal Desai said. \u201cThese barriers are not only physical but also fixed in attitudes, social norms and policies. She reflected on the significance of events like International Purple Fest saying, \u201cIt is a joy to be part of a space that amplifies the voices of persons with disabilities and opens doors to new career opportunities.\u201d The workshop also included sessions on practising law, insurance and other career avenues, enabling participants to explore concrete pathways for professional growth.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-106386\" src=\"https:\/\/goakhabar-com.preview.jikut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/12.10.2025-296x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"296\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.goakhabar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/12.10.2025-296x300.jpg 296w, https:\/\/www.goakhabar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/12.10.2025-80x80.jpg 80w, https:\/\/www.goakhabar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/12.10.2025.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 296px) 100vw, 296px\" \/><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Purple Power, a school engagement session highlighted the ongoing need to shift toward inclusive education for students with disabilities and the role of schools in creating such supportive learning environments. The panel featured Mahera Kantawalla, Occupational Therapist (Sethu); Purva Mandlik, Special Educator, Mushtifund High School; Deepali Manerikar, Special Educator, GVM Almeida High School; and Maria Cyena Pegado, Headmistress, Fairyland High School. The session was graced by Chief Guest, Shri Siddharth Kunkolienkar, Chairman of the Sanjay Centre for Special Education, Goa. \u201cSchools play a vital role in shaping inclusive communities,\u201d Shri Kunkolienkar noted. \u201cIt is here that children learn to understand, respect and support one another, and it is here that true change begins.\u201d<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The day also featured a workshop on Supported Employment for Persons with Mental Disorders, hosted by Dr. Aarti Jagannathan, Additional Professor of Psychiatric Social Work at National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru. Over 30 HR representatives from various organisations across Goa attended the session, which explored ways to adapt and replicate NIMHANS\u2019 psychosocial rehabilitation and employment model in the state. \u201cWe aim to create meaningful pathways for persons with mental health conditions and neurodiversity to re-enter the workforce with dignity,\u201d Dr. Jagannathan said. \u201cEmployment is a critical part of rehabilitation and partnerships such as these make it possible.\u201d Among the organisations represented were Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), UNICHEM Laboratories, Alcon Group and several leading industries marking a significant step towards inclusive employment practices in Goa.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The third edition of International Purple Fest will conclude tomorrow with a grand Closing Ceremony at 5 p.m. that will be attended by distinguished dignitaries including Chief Guest-Shri. Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Hon\u2019ble Governor of Goa, Guest of Honour, Shri. Rajendra Arlekar, Hon\u2019ble Governor of Kerala, Dr. Pramod Sawant, Hon\u2019ble Chief Minister of Goa; Shri. Shripad Naik, Union Minister of State for Power and New &amp; Renewable Energy and Shri. Subhash Phal Dessai, Hon\u2019ble Minister for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities,<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Throughout the day, thought-provoking sessions, discussions, and interactive workshops continue to carry forward the dialogue on accessibility, equity, and meaningful participation.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Curtains will come down on International Purple Fest 2025 with the felicitation of 21 Purple Ambassadors, the launch of the Purple Newsletter, cultural performances by students from special schools, and addresses by the dignitaries.
