This limit was introduced when most PG programmes had an intake capacity of 15 to 30 students. However, seat strength has substantially increased over the past two to three decades due to growing demand, particularly following the implementation of the\u00a0EWS (Economically Weaker Sections) reservation in 2020-21, which led to a 30% rise in seats across programmes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For instance, the\u00a0M.Sc. Chemistry programme, which had an intake of 30 seats in the 1990s, now accommodates 100 students. Yet, the OU reservation remained at just 2 seats \u2014 effectively reducing OU category to only 2%.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-101824\" src=\"https:\/\/goakhabar-com.preview.jikut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/04.04.2025OK.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"297\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.goakhabar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/04.04.2025OK.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.goakhabar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/04.04.2025OK-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.goakhabar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/04.04.2025OK-80x80.jpg 80w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">OU category includes\u00a0Goan students who pursued their undergraduate education at other institutions across India or abroad and now wish to return to Goa for higher education. This adjustment enhances their opportunity for admission while maintaining the integrity of the overall reservation framework.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Diversity and Inclusion, vital parameters under national evaluation systems like\u00a0NAAC and NIRF, are central to this policy update. A more diverse cohort enriches peer learning, encourages cross-cultural exchange, and better prepares students for global work environments and multicultural career trajectories.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Furthermore,\u00a0Vacant OU category seats\u00a0are\u00a0converted to Unreserved seats\u00a0in the\u00a0first round of admission, ensuring\u00a0immediate availability to Goan students. The revision\u00a0does not affect any existing reservation categories, including SC, ST, OBC, EWS, or PwD, and continues to\u00a0uphold the State Government&#8217;s Reservation Policy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To avoid confusion during the ongoing admission process,\u00a0Goa University has decided to maintain the status quo for the current round of admission (April 4\u20135, 2025).
