Goa Khabar : More than 200 entries have been received for participation in the upcoming second edition of the Baale BPS Open 2025, an all-Goa ranking tennis tournament, set to commence on February 16 at the B.P.S Sports Club in Margao.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to the organisers, a total of 204 entries have been received for participation, marking a tremendous turnout for the state-level tennis tournament.<\/p>\n

The state-level ranking tennis tournament has been supported by Baale Resort Goa, Goa State Tennis Association (GSTA) and organised by the prestigious B.P.S Sports Club in Margao \u2013 named after first Goan Governor Bernardo Peres Da Silva.<\/p>\n

In the tournament\u2019s open category, nine participants have registered in the under-10 category, including five boys and four girls. For the under-14 category, 33 participants have registered, with 22 boys and 11 girls signing up for the event. In the under-18 category, there are 17 boys and 10 girls who have registered. 11 pairs have registered to participate in the mixed doubles category, while 20 pairs have registered for the men\u2019s doubles event and four pairs for the ladies doubles event. 11 female tennis players and 47 male tennis players have registered in the prestigious ladies and men\u2019s singles\u2019 categories, respectively. The premier Wheelchair Tennis Challenger Tournament will feature six teams competing for the title in an exciting showcase of skill and determination.<\/p>\n

In the masters segment, 20 registrations have been received for the masters 45+ singles category, while eight pairs have registered for the masters 45+ doubles category. Nine players have signed up for the masters 55+ singles event and five teams for the masters 55+ doubles event.<\/p>\n

For the first time, the tournament will feature a Ladies\u2019 Doubles event and a Wheelchair Tennis category, marking a significant step in promoting diversity in the sport. The introduction of these categories reflects the rising interest among athletes in competitive tennis,\u201d says Tournament Director Deepak Nahak.<\/p>\n
