Goakhabar:The Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Service (INCOIS) issued an alert earlier today cautioning that there may be high energy swell waves along the coast on 21 and 22 April 2018. Coastal states including Goa are advised to be cautious as rough sea conditions will prevail during these days. The states and the union territories for whom the warning have been issued are Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Lakshadweep, Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Odisha and West Bengal.
Drishti, the Goa state appointed lifeguarding agency cautions beach goers and tourists to avoid venturing into the sea on 21st and 22nd April owning to the rough sea conditions. INCOIS has warned of the possibility of high waves between 2 meters to 3 meters. There is a possibility of a surge of waves during the high tide, in the low lying areas of the coast. Drishti advises tourists to avoid venturing into the sea for a swim or water based recreational activities. Drishti are closely monitoring the weather conditions
Drishti’s 600 -strong lifeguard force man Goa’s beaches through the year. The team of lifeguards present along the coast are monitoring the surroundings. The team is trained to carry out rescues even in rough weather.
