Goakhabar: Meteorological Centre, Goa conducted the ceremony of Dedication of Doppler Weather Radar at Met Centre, Goa for the service of the nation on 12-06-2018 at conference hall of Meteorological Centre, Panaji. The chief guest of the event was Dr. M. Rajeevan (Hon’ble Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences, Govt. of India). Dr. K. J. Ramesh(Director General of Meteorology, IMD), Shri. K. S. Hosalikar (Deputy Director General Regional Met Centre, Mumbai) and Shri. M.L Sahu (Director,M.C. Goa) were present for the programme. Dignitaries from different prestigious institutions such as IITM, NIO, Indian Navy etc. attended the programme. Dignitaries, press and media persons were introduced to the Doppler Weather Radar and were briefed about the functioning of the radar.
Dr. M. Rajeevan, Hon’ble Secretary, MoES dedicated the Doppler Radar For the service of the nation and gave the inaugural address. Dr. K. J. Ramesh, DGM, IMD and Shri. K. S. Hosalikar, DDGM, RMC Mumbai addressed the gathering and shared the operational uses of Doppler weather radar and the future plans for accurate and effective forecasts. Shri. M.L Sahu, Director, M.C. Goa enlightened the gathering about the importance of weather radar in the field of forecasting.
At the end of the session a press conference was arranged where the representatives of print and visual media had an interactive session with Dr. M. Rajeevan (Hon’ble Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences, Govt. of India). Dr. K. J. Ramesh (Director General of Meteorology, IMD).
