North Goa Police Conduct Successful Special Night Drive in Mapusa

Goa Khabar:Demonstrating their  commitment to public safety and order, Goa Police launched a special night drive in the Mapusa area on the night of June 21, 2024.
 The operation led to significant enforcement actions and arrests, underscoring the police’s proactive approach to crime prevention and community welfare.
The night drive resulted in the detention of 55 individuals under Section 41 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).
This measure is part of ongoing efforts to maintain law and order in the community.
In a bid to enhance security and check bad characters, the police also carried out 127 tenant verifications. This process is crucial for ensuring that all residents are properly documented, thereby reducing the likelihood of illegal activities and improving overall safety.
The drive also focused on enforcing public health and safety regulations. Police booked 17 cases under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), targeting the illegal sale and consumption of tobacco products in public spaces.
Additionally, 6 individuals were cited for smoking in prohibited areas, reinforcing the message of a smoke-free environment.
Efforts to maintain hygiene in public places were also prioritized, with 13 cases related to improper garbage disposal being booked.
The special night drive was conducted under the leadership of senior Goa Police officers, led by DySP Sandesh Chodankar and PI Nikhil Palekar, under the overall supervision of Akshat Kaushal, SP North Goa.
