Goa Khabar: Girish Sahasrabhojanee, the design and construction manager of the Ram Janmbhoomi temple in Ayodhya has said that the temple has been built to easily last 2000 years. Sahasrabhojanee said this while delivering his talk on the topic, “Building the Ram Janmbhoomi temple.” at the International Centre Goa (ICG) on Friday evening.
Sahasrabhojanee said that highly professional companies like Larsen and Toubro ( civil contractors) and engineering consultants like Tata Consulting Engineers (TCE) were driving the project.
Sahasrabhojanee said that he was part of a four-member, core engineering team headed by a retired bureaucrat to oversee the operations.
Sahasrabhojanee said that excavation began at the 70.5 acre plot in January 2021 and was completed in two years. He expected the temple to be fully ready by end 2025.
Focusing attention on the engineering aspects of the temple, Sahasrabhojanee said that a massive retaining wall had been constructed to keep the temple safe from any possible soil erosion considering that it was half a kilometre away from the Sharayu river.
Sahasrabhojanee said that they had decided not to use steel in core construction activity, but had used traditional methods which were completely earthquake proof. He said that high quality conductors had been used to prevent any damage from thunder and lightning.
“Excavations reveal existence of Ram mandir at site”
Saharabhojanee said that excavations at the temple site over two years revealed many idols and artefacts from the era of King Vikramaditya III ( 2000 years ago) and even Emperor Chandragupta Maurya ( 3500 years ago) indicating the existence of a Ram mandir at site.
Sahasrabhojanee showed multiple photographs of the artefacts in a slide presentation and said that these would be displayed in the temple museum for public viewing.
