Four sub junior boxers reach enter Quarter- Finals

Goa Khabar: Four talented boxers from Goa qualified for the Quarter Finals of the 3rd Sub Junior National Boxing Championships being held in Noida, UP.

In an electrifying match, Suman Patil from Goa, donning the red corner, faced off against Sejal HP from Himachal Pradesh. Suman’s exceptional skills and determination led her to triumph over her opponent, Sejal HP, securing victory by Referee Stopped Contest (RSC) in the first round.

Adding to the glory, Mamta Raut, representing Goa in the women’s division, clashed against Sonam from Sikkim. Mamta displayed outstanding technique and resilience, dominating the bout and clinching victory by RSC in the first round. Just recently she won a Gold medal in the West Zone Sub Junior Boxing Championships in Gujarat and also clinched the Best Boxer title.

In another thrilling encounter, Diksha from Goa faced off against Tanya from Punjab. Despite Diksha’s valiant efforts, she fell short against her formidable opponent, Tanya, losing the match with a scoreline of 0:5.

Veer Rana in the boys category competed against Prashant from Assam to win the bout 4:1. Likewise Laxmi Lamani won against Kerala’s Akshaya Keerthi in a clear bout by points 0:5

With this, Suman Patil, Mamta Raut, Veer Rana and Laxmi Lamani now enter the Quarter Finals. President of Goa Amateur Boxing Association, Francis Viegas said, “It is a remarkable performance by our young boxers at Noida. It shows that we can nurture talent from early on. I am confident that this win will give them the boost to win the next crucial round to enter the medal stage of the nationals.”

Goa sent 9 boxers, 7 girls and 2 boys accompanied by SAI Coach Arif Uddin and assistant Sameer Kenchikera.
