Vedanta Sesa Goa Augments Information Technology Infrastructure at Bicholim

Goa Khabar:  In line with its vision for leveraging technology for transforming communities, Vedanta Sesa Goa in collaboration with Vedanta Foundation, set up a Computer Lab at Our Lady of Grace High School (OLGHS), Bicholim. The computer lab has been established with the objective of augmenting the technological gap in the information technology infrastructure at Bicholim. This is the tenth such computer training lab established by Vedanta Sesa Goa, of which five are in Goa State

The Computer Centre was inaugurated at OLGHS at Bicholim by Mr Kundan Falari, Chairman, Bicholim Municipal Council in the presence of Ms. Arifa Mascarenhas, Headmistress, OLGHS, Rev. Fr. Caetano Dourado, Manager, OLGHS, Mr. Laxman Gawas Laxman Gawas, Dy Head Operations, Bicholim, & Nilesh Zore, Dy Head, CSR, Sesa Goa along with faculty members and attendees from the Bicholim community.

During his address, Mr. Kundan Falari, Chairperson of Bicholim Muncipal Council, expressed, “The Computer Lab, a hub of innovation, will inspire youth to creatively showcase their talents, unlocking their full technical potential. This will undoubtedly bring positive changes to the lives of countless young individuals in the high school, opening new avenues and enhancing their future prospects. As a result, they will not only make their families and communities proud but also contribute to the pride of our nation in the days ahead.”

The computer lab that has been set up is intended to equip the students with computer training skills through their classroom curriculum. The computer lab is equipped with latest hardware, servers and other technical assets as required by the school. Vedanta Sesa Goa is planning to set up 3 similar labs in the schools proximal to the Bicholim mining block.

Mr. Nilesh Zore, Dy Head, CSR, Sesa Goa, said “We at Vedanta are committed to providing the requisite support to enable our students to acquire computer skills at par with any other part of the country. We have endeavoured to further our philosophy of ‘transforming for good’ through the medium of education. We thank OLGHS for having provided us with the opportunity to serve the Bicholim community. I am sure that with additional labs coming up, our students and youth shall stand to benefit from the same in many ways.”

Vedanta Sesa Goa has undertaken numerous projects for the benefit of the youth and to encourage skill development amongst them. It has been Sesa Goa’s endeavour to contribute to the promotion of sustainable economic growth and improvement of access to quality education for reducing poverty and promoting overall socio-economic development of rural India. Hence, strengthening the efforts to create job opportunities, promote entrepreneurship, and ensure access to education.
