Trio of thieves was chased down and handed over to the police authorities by Drishti Lifesavers in Calangute

Goa Khabar: It was a busy weekend for the Drishti lifesavers posted along the shores. The weekend witnessed six rescues along the coast, eight missing children were located and reunited with their families, one medical emergency was attended to and a trio of thieves was chased down and handed over to the police authorities. 

 

At Calangute beach, alert Drishti lifesavers noticed 3 persons who were making away with stolen bags of people. Upon noticing them running away the lifesavers immediately jumped into action and pursued them in a chase. The lifesavers caught up with them and handed them over to the police officials. The stolen items were returned back to its owners.

 

Dudhsagar Waterfall witnessed a single rescue wherein lifesaver Vithal Masurkar, rescued a 26-year-old male from Telangana using a rescue tube.

 

Subsequently, there were three additional single rescues in North Goa, one at Calangute beach, wherein a 30 yr old male from  Hubli was rescued by lifesaver Suvesh Keluskar with a rescue tube. The second rescue took place at Miramar, where a 51- year old male from Pune who was heavily intoxicated was caught in a rip current. Drishti’s lifesavers Diptesh Parwar and  Swapnil Khardolkar immediately sprung to action and rescued the victim with the aid of a surfboard and rescue tube.

Additionally, there was a rescue at Morjim river, wherein a 33-year-old  local male from Bicholim was rescued by  Drishti’s lifesavers Dyaneshwar Mahale and Anand Parab using a rescue tube and surfboard respectively.

 

Meanwhile, there was a double rescue at Palolem which involved a couple from Karwar who were kayaking and suddenly they both fell into the deep water. Upon noticing them lifesavers Laxman Sangekar and Adarsh Velip rushed into the water and rescued them with the aid of a jetski.

 

Drishti’s lifesavers are the first respondents not only to beachgoers who venture into the waters, but also for medical emergencies which arise along the coast. In one such incident, at Calangute first aid was administered to a 19-year-old male from Bihar who sustained a bite while in the water.

 

Additionally, there were several lost and found cases involving children over the weekend five of which were at Colva beach in south Goa, while 2 of them were at Baga Beach in the north and one at Calangute. All the children were returned to their respective families by the lifesavers after confirmation and in the presence of police officials.
