Goa Forward Party President alleges irregularities in electoral roll revision, questions inclusion of 50 voters previously registered in Curtorim and announces voter verification drive in Fatorda

Goa Khabar: Goa Forward Party (GFP) President and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai has raised serious concerns over alleged irregularities in the electoral rolls of the Fatorda Assembly constituency following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) ahead of the February 2027 Goa Assembly elections.

Sardesai questioned the reported deletion of approximately 4,500 voters from Fatorda’s electoral rolls and the appearance of 50 voters who had been voting in the neighbouring Curtorim constituency since the 2012 delimitation exercise.

He alleged that the developments raised concerns about possible electoral roll manipulation and the potential disenfranchisement of genuine voters.

### Questions Over Inclusion of 50 Curtorim Voters

According to Sardesai, a group of 50 voters who had been exercising their voting rights in Curtorim following the 2012 delimitation exercise are now appearing on the Fatorda electoral roll after the SIR process.

He questioned how these voters had been included in Fatorda and called for scrutiny of the revision process.

Sardesai suggested that the issue could indicate wider irregularities in the electoral rolls and asked whether the cases identified so far were only the beginning of a larger problem.

### Approximately 4,500 Voters Deleted from Fatorda Rolls

The Fatorda MLA also expressed concern over the reported deletion of approximately 4,500 names from the constituency’s electoral rolls.

He claimed that many of those whose names had been removed could be genuine voters entitled to exercise their democratic rights.

Sardesai warned of what he described as a potentially dangerous pattern in which eligible voters could be excluded while ineligible voters from outside the constituency might be added.

These allegations have been raised by Sardesai and have not been independently established.

### Warns Against Political Interference in Electoral Rolls

The Goa Forward Party President said that electoral rolls must not be manipulated under political pressure.

He maintained that the integrity of the electoral registration process was essential to ensuring free and fair elections and protecting the voting rights of citizens.

Sardesai expressed concern that the alleged irregularities could affect not only electoral participation but also benefits under government schemes that voters may be entitled to receive.

### Goa Forward Party to Launch Voter Verification Drive

Announcing further action, Sardesai said that he and his party would reach out to voters across Fatorda to verify whether their names remained on the electoral rolls.

The proposed exercise would focus on identifying voters whose names may have been deleted and examining concerns regarding the inclusion of voters from other constituencies.

He said the party would make efforts to ensure that genuine voters were not deprived of their right to vote.

### Calls on Citizens to Defend Their Voting Rights

Raising the slogan “Stand Up to Vote Chori. Defend Democracy,” Sardesai urged citizens to remain vigilant about their electoral registration status.

He warned that voters might discover that their names had already been removed from the electoral rolls without their knowledge.

The allegations have brought attention to the electoral roll revision process in Fatorda ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections. However, the reasons for the reported deletions and constituency changes, and whether any improper action occurred, remain to be established through official verification.
