Double engine failed in last 10 years, Don’t give excuses, show results: Alka Lamba

Goa Khabar: Launching a scathing attack on the BJP, All India Mahila Congress President Alka Lamba today exposed the total failure of the double-engine government in Goa and said that after 10 years in power, BJP has no right to give excuses, it must give answers.

“We don’t want your ‘Mann Ki Baat’, we want answers to ten questions. We don’t want excuses, we want results,” Lamba said during press conference at Congress House, Panaji.

She revealed that in the last 4 years alone, 922 cases of crimes against women, including rapes and molestations, have been registered in Goa. This is the reality of BJP’s ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’. 

Media and Communication Chairman Amarnath Panjikar, Goa Pradesh Mahila President Dr. Pratiksha Khalap, President, General Secretary Adv. and others were present. 

Congress leader asked ten questions to BJP government, including unemployment, cash for job, drugs and organised crimes, land conversions. 

“Can a woman move freely in BJP’s Goa today? This government which chants Beti Bachao has made Goa unsafe for our daughters,” she said.

Slamming the Cash-for-Jobs scam, she said, “This is a government that sells jobs. Their own BJP ministers have accused their own government of a job scam. Deserving Goan youth are rejected and jobs are sold to the highest bidder. This government has destroyed the future of Goan youth.”

“BJP is the biggest threat to democracy. They steal everything – They steal MLAs, they steal party symbols, they steal votes through Vote-Chori and they steal money through Electoral Bond Chori,” Lamba said.

She said Goa, once known for peace and culture, has become the crime and drugs capital under BJP.

“Where are the convictions in narcotics cases? You catch drugs for headlines and then protect the peddlers. Whom is this government protecting? This government is hand-in-glove with the drug mafia,” she charged.

Quoting the CAG report, she said, “CAG has black and white said that corruption has taken place in this government. This is not a government, this is a ‘Chor Sarkar’ that has looted public money.”

“This is Jamin-Chor, Vote-Chor, Chanda-Chor and Paper-Chor Sarkar. If we don’t stop them now, they will steal the very soul of Goa. We have to stop this environmental destruction and save our Goan heritage,” she said.

Lamba said even tourism is destroyed and quality of life of Goans has collapsed. “What have Goans got in 10 years except inflation, crime and unemployment?

Drawing a parallel to Prajwal Revanna case, she said, “In BJP’s double-engine, rapists don’t get punishment, they get parole. In Goa, we have seen Prajwal Revanna Part-2. The accused, son of a BJP leader, is roaming scot-free. In our Congress government in Karnataka, we put Revanna behind bars. That is the difference between Congress and BJP.”

Lamba asserted that Congress will not be intimidated by BJP’s vendetta politics.”We welcome the FIR on our leader Rahul Gandhi for protesting against Vote-Chori in Delhi. 

He is fighting to save democracy. BJP’s women leaders should ask their own leadership – what have you done when 922 of our sisters were assaulted?” she said.

She called upon Goans to take a pledge to make Goa crime-free and drug-free.” Time to throw out this Double-Engine failure,” she said.
