Health Minister Vishwajit Rane Reviews State Cancer Institute Work at GMC
Goa Khabar: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane visited the site of the upcoming State Cancer Institute at Goa Medical College (GMC) to review the progress of the ongoing construction work.
Rane said the shuttering and reinforcement work for the slab of the Linear Accelerator (LINAC) facility was progressing steadily. A puja was also performed at the site to mark the milestone.
Once completed, the LINAC facility will make GMC the first government hospital in Goa to provide advanced radiation treatment. The State Cancer Institute, being developed in collaboration with the Tata Memorial Centre, will offer comprehensive, accessible and affordable cancer care.
The facility is expected to reduce the need for patients from Goa to travel outside the state for cancer treatment. Rane said the government was looking forward to completing and inaugurating the facility soon, describing it as an important step towards strengthening cancer care in Goa.
