Goa Khabar: BJP Goa has raised questions over allegations surrounding the Congress party’s reported office purchase deal and claims that Assembly election tickets could be linked to financial contributions, calling upon the Goa Congress leadership to clarify the matter publicly.
In a statement, BJP Goa State Media Convener and Spokesperson Siddesh Shripad Naik said recent statements circulating in the public domain regarding the alleged office deal and reports of tickets being offered to financially strong aspirants have raised concerns.
Naik said that if the allegations are true, they would raise serious questions about the manner in which candidates are selected. He maintained that elections should be fought on the basis of public service, ideology, commitment to constituencies and the confidence of party workers rather than financial capacity.
Referring specifically to the Nuvem constituency, Naik claimed that loyal Congress workers and supporters were reportedly being sidelined while ticket allocation was allegedly being linked to monetary considerations.
He said political tickets should be entrusted to deserving workers and leaders who have worked among the people, adding that democratic candidature should not be determined by the highest financial bidder.
The BJP spokesperson asked the Goa Congress leadership to clarify whether any agreement had been entered into for the purchase of office premises and whether any financial liabilities remained outstanding.
He also sought clarification on whether discussions had taken place linking candidature in Nuvem or any other constituency with financial contributions, and whether committed party workers were being overlooked in favour of wealthy aspirants.
Naik said the people of Goa deserved transparency and accountability on the issue and claimed that failure to respond to the allegations could strengthen suspicions surrounding the party’s ticket allocation process.
The BJP Goa spokesperson further stated that his party remained committed to what he described as clean, transparent and people-centric politics.
The claims and allegations made in the BJP statement have not been independently verified, and the Congress party’s response was not included in the statement.
