Goa Khabar: At least 105 Indians are among nearly 400 people reported missing following devastating flash floods in Nepal’s Rasuwa district, bordering Tibet, on Wednesday.

A sudden and massive flood swept through areas of central Nepal early Wednesday, killing four people and causing extensive damage to settlements along the river. At least a dozen hydropower projects were also reportedly damaged in the disaster.

Officials said the flood surged through the Bhote Koshi River at around 9 am local time, with the floodwaters coming from the Tibet side. The disaster affected Rasuwa and Dhading districts, which border Tibet, as well as Nuwakot district, southwest of Kathmandu.

According to a statement issued by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), a total of 384 travellers — 291 foreigners and 93 Nepalese nationals — have gone missing following the floods in Rasuwa.

Among the missing foreign travellers are 105 Indian tourists and 37 NRIs. The remaining missing tourists are reportedly from countries including the United States, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, South Africa, Australia and the Netherlands.

Rescue and search operations are underway in the flood-affected areas as authorities attempt to trace those reported missing.
