Passenger Booked at Mopa Airport After Prohibited GPS Device Found in Baggage

Goa Khabar: Mopa Airport Police have registered a case against a 44-year-old passenger from Rajasthan after a TRIMBLE GPS device, allegedly prohibited in India without the requisite licence or permission, was detected in his baggage during security screening at Manohar International Airport, Mopa.

According to police information, the incident occurred at around 1.50 pm on August 18, 2026, when accused Kailash Chand Yadav, a resident of Jaipur, Rajasthan, was undergoing screening at the Domestic Security Hold Area (SHA).

Yadav was scheduled to travel from Mopa to Delhi on Air India Express flight IX-1490, with a scheduled departure time of 3.05 pm.

During baggage screening at ATRS-G, security personnel detected a TRIMBLE GPS device in his baggage. According to the complaint, the passenger was unable to produce any licence or permission from the competent authority for possessing the device.

Following a complaint lodged by CISF personnel Shantanu Pramanick, Mopa Airport Police registered Crime No. 33/2026 on August 19 under Section 3 read with Section 6(1A) of the Indian Wireless Telegraphy Act, 1933.

The accused was subsequently summoned by issuing a notice under Section 35(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) on August 19.

Police have already completed the investigation and filed Charge Sheet No. 29/2026 dated August 20, 2026. The matter is currently pending trial before the JMFC, Pernem.

The investigation was conducted by PSI Akshay Parsekar of Mopa Airport Police Station.
