Valpoi Records Highest Rainfall, Pernem Receives the Lowest in Goa During Last 24 Hours
Goa Khabar: Goa witnessed widespread rainfall during the last 24 hours ending at 8:30 am on August 4, with Valpoi recording the highest rainfall in the state at 142 mm, placing it in the ‘Very Heavy Rainfall’ category.
On the other hand, Pernem received the lowest rainfall at just 6.4 mm, making it the least rainy location in Goa during the same period.
According to the latest rainfall data, Sankhali recorded 71.6 mm, falling under the Heavy Rainfall category.
Several other parts of the state experienced moderate rainfall, including:
Dharbandora – 58.2 mm
Quepem – 57.2 mm
Sanguem – 54.2 mm
Ponda – 45.0 mm
Ela (Old Goa) – 34.1 mm
Mapusa – 32.2 mm
Mormugao – 27.4 mm
Margao – 27.1 mm
Dabolim – 24.6 mm
Panaji – 23.0 mm
Meanwhile, only Canacona (14.8 mm) and Pernem (6.4 mm) recorded light rainfall, while no station reported either extremely heavy rainfall (204.5 mm or more) or very light rainfall (up to 2.4 mm) during the reporting period.
The rainfall pattern indicates that North Goa received significantly heavier rainfall, particularly in Valpoi and Sankhali, while southern coastal areas recorded comparatively lower rainfall totals.
