DD Kosambi book launch and discussion at ICG on July 31

Goa Khabar: The LateDD Kosambi,the Goanpolymath with interests in mathematics, statistics, philology, history, and genetics will be under the spotlight on Friday, July 31 at 6pm at the International Centre Goa (ICG).

Kosambi’s biography, “DD Kosambi-One Life, Many Worlds” written by Ram Ramswamy is scheduled to be launched and discussed at the ICG. The event is free and open to the public.

This event has been conceptualised and organised by the International Centre Goa (ICG) in collaboration with the Goa University.

The author and biographer, Ram Ramaswamy is the DD Kosambi Chair in interdisciplinary studies at Goa University and was a scholar-in-residence at the ICG in 2025. Ramaswamy retired from the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, where he was professor of physics, in 2018. Between 2011 and 2015, he served as vice-chancellor of the Hyderabad Central University.

The book will be discussed by a trio of scholars, which includes, Vivek Monteiro, Parag Parobo and Kaustubh Naik.

Vivek Monteiro is vice-president, Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) Maharashtra. He has a doctorate in theoretical and mathematical physics from the Stony Brook University.

Parag Parobo is an associate professor in history, DD Kosambi school of social sciences and behavioural studies, Goa University, while  Kaustubh Naik is a doctoral candidate at the Department of South Asia Studies, University of Pennsylvania.
