80% of Goans are not even aware that E20 petrol is being dispensed into their vehicles : Manuel Cardoso
Goa Khabar : AAP Goa Vice President Manuel Cardoso, along with AAP leaders Shyam Kolamkar, Umesh Kolvalkar and Vishwajeet Shirodkar, visited petrol pumps in Mapusa where they interacted with vehicle owners to understand the impact of the forced rollout of E20 petrol. Many Goans, unaware of E20 rollout, complained of poor pickup on steep slopes, reduced mileage and engine-related issues. One vehicle owner stated that they had to spend nearly ₹3,000 on repairs after a mechanic attributed the problem to the use of E20 petrol.
The leaders appealed to the people of Goa to visit StopE20Petrol.com and sign a letter addressed to the Prime Minister demanding an end to the forced rollout of E20 petrol.
Many vehicle owners complained that their bikes and cars struggle to climb steep slopes due to poor pickup. Consumers also reported that engines are taking longer to start, some vehicles are experiencing engine freezing and overall vehicle performance has deteriorated after the introduction of E20 petrol.
Motorists especially have witnessed cold start issue, noise while starting the bike or on steep slope and significant reduction in mileage, while continuing to pay the same price for fuel.
AAP leaders reiterated the party’s demands that consumers must be given a choice between pure petrol and E20 petrol and that the price of E20 petrol should be reduced to reflect its lower calorific value and reduced mileage.
AAP Goa Vice President Manuel Cardoso stated that interactions with consumers at petrol pumps revealed that a large number of Goans are facing problems after the introduction of E20 petrol. He said that nearly 80 percent of people are not even aware that E20 petrol is being dispensed into their vehicles. He stated that Several consumers also informed AAP leaders that they have been forced to spend thousands of rupees on repeated repairs because of the incompatibility of older vehicles with E20 fuel.
Manuel Cardoso claimed that these complaints clearly demonstrate why consumers must be given the freedom to choose between pure petrol and E20 petrol instead of being forced to use a single fuel option.
AAP demanded that the Government immediately stop the forced rollout of E20 petrol, ensure that every petrol pump provides both pure petrol and E20 petrol so that consumers have a genuine choice, and reduce the price of E20 petrol in accordance with its lower fuel efficiency and calorific value.
AAP leaders appealed to every Goan to unite, sign the letter through StopE20Petrol.com, and support the demand that consumers be given an informed choice between E20 and pure petrol and stop forced rollout.
