Goa Khabar : Residents of Deulwada, Korgao, have urged the Water Resources Department (WRD) to immediately install a new safety railing on the Deulwada bridge, citing serious safety concerns for motorists, schoolchildren and pedestrians.

According to local residents, the bridge has become hazardous after the previous safety railing collapsed, with its poles now lying in the water below. Despite the damaged railing, heavy vehicles continue to use the bridge regularly, increasing the risk of accidents.

Locals also raised concern over garbage being dumped beneath the bridge during the night. Although the Korgao Village Panchayat has installed a notice warning of a ₹5,000 fine for illegal dumping, residents claim the practice continues.

In addition, the road connecting the Deulwada bridge to the local crematorium is reportedly in poor condition and requires urgent repairs.

Speaking on the issue, local residents Babi Shankar Toraskar and Arvind Payaji appealed to the concerned authorities to take immediate action by installing a safety railing, preventing illegal garbage dumping and repairing the damaged road to ensure the safety and convenience of the public.
