Goa Khabar: The lift and connecting gangway providing access to the pontoon at the under-construction Betul Jetty at its Advanced Training Institute (ATI), Goa, remained unaffected and are intact. The impact was confined to a portion of the pontoon that was undergoing enhancement works during a period of severe adverse weather and cyclonic sea conditions.

The Betul Jetty is an infrastructure project being developed by ONGC’s Advanced Training Institute (ATI), Goa, and is presently under construction. To facilitate limited water-based movement during India Energy Week (IEW) 2026, the jetty was made temporarily operational after necessary safety considerations, while the remaining construction and enhancement works continued. The project has not yet been fully completed or formally commissioned, clarified ONGC.

The jetty is located away from the mouth of River Sal, towards the ONGC ATI campus.

As part of the ongoing construction process, the height of the pontoon jetty was being enhanced to further improve its safety and operational resilience. During this phase, the area experienced severe adverse weather and cyclonic sea conditions, which affected a portion of the under-construction pontoon. However, facilities providing access to the pontoon, including the lift and the connecting gangway, remained unaffected and are intact.

Immediately following the incident, ONGC ATI, in coordination with the executing agency, initiated all necessary measures. The pontoon is being secured, the site has been made safe, and a detailed technical assessment is underway. Corrective engineering measures are being implemented, and the affected portion will be restored in accordance with expert recommendations.

ONGC remains committed to the highest standards of safety, quality and engineering excellence. The ongoing works will be completed after incorporating all necessary technical measures, and the project will be fully commissioned only after ensuring compliance with all prescribed safety and operational standards.
