Government of Goa to launch assistance scheme for Warkari Dindis undertaking Pandharpur Wari

Goa Khabar : Honouring a centuries-old tradition of faith, devotion and cultural heritage, the Directorate of Art and Culture, Government of Goa, will organise a Financial Assistance Distribution and Flag-off Ceremony under the newly introduced Scheme for Assistance to Registered Warkari Dindis of Goa Undertaking the Annual Pandharpur Wari on July 6, 2026, at 10:30 AM at Kala Academy, Goa. The programme marks an important step towards supporting registered Warkari Dindis undertaking the sacred pilgrimage to Pandharpur while preserving Goa’s rich devotional traditions.

Rooted in the Government’s commitment to safeguarding Goa’s cultural heritage, the scheme has been introduced to preserve and promote the Warkari tradition, facilitate participation in the annual Pandharpur Wari and support the welfare and safety of Warkaris undertaking the pilgrimage. Under the scheme, eligible registered Warkari Dindis will receive financial assistance, while measures such as registration, documentation and heritage promotion activities will further strengthen the preservation of this longstanding cultural practice.

Providing structured support to participating Dindis, the scheme offers financial assistance ranging from ₹1 lakh for Dindis with 40 to 50 registered participants to assistance calculated at ₹2,000 per participant for larger groups, subject to a maximum limit of ₹5 lakh per Dindi. The assistance is intended to facilitate participation, enhance welfare and safety measures, and support activities associated with the pilgrimage. The programme will also feature a Hari Path recital by Ajoba Mauli Warkari Sampraday, Keri, Sattari, and a traditional Warkari Dindi procession by Om Namo Dnyaneshwar Mauli Warkari Mandal, Amona, Bicholim.

The programme will be graced by Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, Union Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy, Shripad Naik, Rajya Sabha Member Sadanand Shet Tanavade, Minister for Art and Culture Ramesh Tawadkar, other Ministers and dignitaries.
