Administer First-aid to Child Injured due to Broken Glass; Trace Four Missing Children Over Weekend

Goa Khabar: Drishti Marine lifesavers rescued two persons from drowning, attended to a medical emergency involving a 10-year-old girl who cut her foot while walking along Hollant Beach, and traced four missing children over the weekend along the state’s coastline.

Baga Beach: After beach closing hours, Drishti Marine lifesavers assisted the Goa Beach Police in tracing a 12-year-old boy from Maharashtra who had reportedly gone missing at Baga Beach. The child was later located on the beach stretch and reunited with his parents after identification formalities in the presence of Goa Police personnel. Lifesavers involved in the search operation included Saurabh Kumar, Sandesh Paryekar, Ridresh Mahale and Vinay Sawal.

Miramar Beach: Drishti Marine lifesavers assisted an unidentified man who was found lying in a semi-conscious state near the water’s edge at Miramar Beach. The individual, who appeared to be intoxicated, was located around eight to 10 metres above the waterline. On assessment, the man’s pulse and breathing were found to be stable. Lifesavers Dhanraj Tikkam and Ramesh Bhomkar alerted the 108 ambulance service, following which the individual was handed over to the medical response team for further assistance.

Hollant Beach: Drishti Marine lifesavers administered first aid to a 10-year-old girl from Goa at Hollant Beach after she sustained a deep cut to her foot while walking on rocks along the beach. Following initial treatment by the lifesaver team, the child was handed over to the 108 ambulance service for further medical assistance.

Colva Beach: A nine-year-old child from Hyderabad was reported missing at the beach. The child was traced by locally posted lifesavers, who launched a search operation and eventually located him. The child was later handed over to a relative with whom he had visited the beach, after following proper protocol. In another incident at the same beach, Drishti Marine lifesavers assisted in reuniting a missing six-year-old boy from Ponda with his mother after the child was found alone near the garden area at Colva Beach.

Benaulim Beach: Drishti Marine lifesavers assisted an 11-year-old girl from Belgaum who was found separated from her family at Benaulim Beach. After identification formalities, the child was handed over to her aunt. At the same beach Drishti Marine lifesavers rescued a 34-year-old man from Pune who got into distress while swimming with a group at Benaulim Beach. The victim was struck by a strong wave and dragged by retreating waters, causing him to panic. Lifesaver Sudarshan spotted the distress and safely brought the individual back to shore using a rescue board. The victim was reported to be stable.
