Fake Call Centre Busted in Dona Paula; 10 Arrested by Crime Branch

Goa Khabar: In a major crackdown, the Goa Crime Branch busted a fake call centre operating from Dona Paula and arrested ten accused involved in an international fraud targeting US citizens.

According to the press note, the raid was conducted on April 29, 2026, between 5:00 AM and 12:15 PM at Villa Solace Kapur, Sagar Coop Housing Society, Dona Paula, Tiswadi. The operation was led by PI Manguesh Valvaikar, assisted by PSI Amin A. Naik and Crime Branch staff.

The accused had allegedly set up the illegal call centre on the upper ground floor of the premises and posed as loan company agents. Using online voice applications and internet services, they contacted US citizens and fraudulently induced them to transfer large sums of money through gift cards under the pretext of providing loans.

Police seized 8 laptops, 2 LAN router connectors, 11 mobile phones, and 3 vehicles, collectively valued at approximately ₹64.7 lakh.

The arrested individuals are from Gujarat, Rajasthan, West Bengal, and Maharashtra. The mastermind, identified as Asim Yunusbhai Shelat alias Aijju, is believed to have orchestrated the operation.

Further investigation is underway under the supervision of SP Crime Branch Rahul Gupta, IPS.
