Goa Khabar :The International Centre Goa (ICG) is set to host a compelling lecture by Dr. Happymon Jacob, one of India’s leading commentators on international affairs, who will provide insights into the current geopolitical landscape.
Dr. Jacob, a Distinguished Visiting Professor at Shiv Nadar University (SNU), Delhi, will speak on the topic: “Ten reflections on the Iran war—the view from Delhi.” The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 2, at 6:30 PM and is part of the institute’s acclaimed “ICG public lectures” series.
Dr. Jacob brings a wealth of experience to the discussion. Before his current role at SNU, he served on the faculty of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) for 17 years. He is the founder and director of the Council for Strategic and Defence Research (CSDR) and the editor of India’s World, the country’s first dedicated foreign policy magazine.
A prominent voice in strategic studies, Dr. Jacob is the author and editor of several influential books, including Line on Fire: Ceasefire Violations; India-Pakistan Escalation Dynamics (Oxford University Press, 2019) and Line of Control: Traveling with the Indian and Pakistani Armies (Penguin Viking, 2018). His latest work, India After Nonalignment, is slated for publication in 2026 by Georgetown University Press and Penguin Random House.
Since 2022, his analyses have frequently appeared in Foreign Affairs, the Council on Foreign Relations’ prestigious forum for global affairs. As a regular columnist for The Hindustan Times, Dr. Jacob is widely recognized for his commitment to bridging the often-wide gap between academic scholarship and policy-making.
